If you are looking for some support or guidance, you have found the right place. Citizens Advice Portsmouth is a charity that offers free, impartial and confidential advice to anyone who needs it. We have a range of services and experts that can help you with different issues and challenges. Here is what we can do for you if you:
- are struggling with debt or managing your money, we have a specialist team that can help you find a way out of your financial difficulties. They can help you with budgeting, negotiating with creditors, applying for debt relief orders, bankruptcy and more.
- have recently been discharged from hospital or are recovering from an illness or injury, we have a recovering well team that can help you get back on your feet. They can help you with arranging transport, getting equipment, accessing benefits, finding local support groups and more.
- have questions or concerns about immigration, we have an immigration team that can help you with your visa, citizenship, asylum or other immigration issues. They can help you understand your rights and options, fill in forms, prepare for interviews and more.
- are over 65 years old, we have a general advice team that can help you with any issue that affects your life. They can help you with pensions, health care, social care, housing, consumer rights and more.
- are affected by cancer in any way, whether you are a patient, a carer or a family member, we have a Macmillan support team that can help you with any issue that affects your life. They can help you with benefits, grants, travel insurance, work rights and more.
We also have a self-help area where you can find information and resources on various topics. And we can provide translation and sign language services if you need them.
However, there are some areas that we may not be able to help you with because we don't have specialist teams for them, and we rely on our volunteers. These areas include:
- Employment
- Problems with goods and services (consumer issues)
- Energy issues
- Family law
- Welfare benefits and appeals
We receive a lot of requests for help every day and we can't advise everyone. If we don't have a volunteer available to help you with these areas, we will try to signpost you to other organisations or websites that can.
